Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre
The Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre was the premier Flamenco dance company in the region. Featuring eight very talented dancers, multiple guitarists, a percussionist, and Artistic Director René Heredia as principal guitarist. The company performed regularly throughout the Front Range of Colorado and across the region, and travelled to Kansas City, the sister city of Sevilla, and Oakland, California to perform for enthusiastic crowds of flamenco aficionados.
The roots of the company date back to 1968 when Maestro Heredia opened his Denver Center for Guitar and Dance. Gathering guitar and dance students from all over the state, he formed the Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre in 1990. In 2005 the IRS recognized the Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the pure Spanish gypsy and Andalusian art of flamenco. In November of 2021 Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre was formally retired. However, the La Familia Heredia legacy continues lives on through Maestro Heredia’s niece, Andréana Cortés at the Colorado Institute of Flamenco.
