Rene Heredia and the Flamenco Center for Guitar and Dance are proud to sponsor a series of flamenco dance workshops June 12, 13 & 15, 2019 with special guest instructor Katerina Albertini Voulgari from Athens, Greece.
Beginner, intermediate and advanced dancers are invited to learn basic dance technique, rhythms (Compas) and forms (Palos) in a series of classes. All classes will include technique for footwork, body and arm positions and turns. Participants may sign up for a single class or for the entire series.
Location: Move! Dance Space, 1980 Youngfield St., Lakewood, CO 80215
Cost: $30 for a single class, $50 for the Master Class.

WORKSHOP DAY 1: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12
6:00-7:15 pm – Beginners Workshop
Palo: Alegrias Beginning dancers will learn the basic rhythm and construction of the dance including the salida, llamada, and letra.
7:30-8:45 pm – Intermediate/Advanced Workshop
Palo: Seguiriyas More experienced dancers will learn compas and technique of the dance including introduction, letra and falseta.
WORKSHOP DAY 2: THURSDAY, JUNE 13
6:00-7:15 pm – Beginners Workshop
Palo: Alegrias Beginning dancers will continue to learn the basic rhythm and construction of the dance focusing on the silencio, escobilla and introduction to bulerias.
7:30-8:45 pm – Intermediate/Advanced Workshop
Palo: Seguiriyas More experienced dancers will review the compas and technique of the Seguiriyas and learn the escobilla, and macho seguriyas final.
WORKSHOP DAY 3: SATURDAY, JUNE 15
3:30-5:30 pm – Master Class (All Levels)
Students will receive instruction in footwork, body and arm positions, turns and castanet technique and rhythms with a focus on Alegrias and Seguiriyas.

Katerina Albertini Voulgari studied extensively in Spain with the best dance teachers from Sevilla and Andalusia. She is known for her extensive knowledge of flamenco palos (forms) including Soleares, Farruca, and Seguiriyas.
Katerina was born in Athens, Greece and started her dancing studies at a very young age. She studied in Athens at the professional dancing schools of Dianna Theodoridou and Katia Savrami, and fulfilled her studies in Spain, (Madrid, Sevilla, Jerez de la Frontera) attending courses and seminars by famous dancers and teachers of Spanish culture, at the schools of Amor de Dios, La Union, and Centro de Baile Jerez.
She has teaching experience at different schools in Spain (Centro de Baie Jerez, La Union) and in many dancing schools in Greece. She has had her own flamenco school in Athens, since 2006.
